GC-3 is
a natural, organic, fungicide that provides good control of powdery
mildew on various crops and ornamentals. Powdery mildew fungi is an
obligatory parasite and thus requires a living plant host. Powdery
mildew coloniees quicly render a flowery potted plant unmarketable. The
powdery mildews infect a wide range of plants and are well represented
on ornamentals, vegetables and fruit crops. The powdery mildew fungus
can infect all green tissues of the grapevine as well as other infected
plants. The fungus penetrates only the epidermal cells to absorb the
nutrients. The disease can usually be tecognized easily in most crops
by the light-colored powdery spore growth that forms on shoots, both
sides of leaves, and sometimes flowers. On vegetable crops, powdery
mildew usually appears first as yellow spots on the upper leaf surface
of older leaves. the disease may affect the flavor of melons and
squash. Powdery mildew is more serious on grapes and fruit trees,
because it attacks the new growth, including buds, shoots, flowers and
newly forming fruits as well as leaves.
GC-3
as a natural product, can be an excellent tool to combat powdery
mildew, while offering little chance for disease resistance build up. GC-3
is safe, effective, long-lasting, and suitable for organic food
production. It can also fit within a prevention or IPM program. It is
safe to rotate with other fungicide chemistries. GC-3
protects your crops through harvest and is less harmful to beneficial
fauna than most fungicides. It has no Re-Entry Interval and no
Pre-Harvest Interval. There is no residue of concern. GC-3 has the ability to suppress spider mites population to some extent, which will help preventively control powdery mildew.
As GC-3
is derived from garlic extracts and other essential oils, these active
ingredients are food grade materials. The US EPA has exempted GC-3 from registration under FIFRA. It has no residue tolerance limits for any food crops, including fruits and berries. GC-3 is a contact kill fungicide, so thorough coverage is important.
